Trieste, the capital of the Region Friuli Venezia Giulia, is wedged between the mountains and the sea. It

cosmopolitanism are manifest in the city centre, where the roads are flanked by elegant neoclassical buildings, art nouveau monuments and mighty churches of different religions. Only a few minutes by bus
from the centre there is the romantic and fabulous castle of Miramare, encircled by luxuriant gardens.
The sea in front of the castle has become a Marine Nature Reserve managed by WWF.
